About Titilaka

Titilaka sits on its own peninsula, with water on three sides and only a neighboring Aymara community for company. The grounds cover four acres, with two private beaches, over-water decks and boardwalks. The 18 rooms are spread over three floors off a central hallway, and every one faces the lake. They are named for the light: Dawn rooms face east, Dusk rooms face west, and the Corner rooms on the third floor catch both.

Meals, happy-hour drinks and guided excursions are all part of the stay. The executive chef is Maria Fe García, and the kitchen leans on lake trout and Andean ingredients. Days are built around the water: a private dock for boat trips to the Uros reed islands and Taquile, plus biking, kayaking, hiking and birdwatching. Evenings end with a drink on the waterfront terrace. Massages are offered in a small spa room and need booking ahead.

The altitude is real at around 3,810 m, so the lodge offers oxygen on arrival and the rooms have heated floors. There are no TVs in the rooms, only a TV lounge downstairs, though sets can be brought up on request. Wi-Fi is free, and the lodge arranges transfers from Juliaca airport.
