About Belmond Rio Sagrado

Rio Sagrado stands on the bank of the Urubamba River on the road between Urubamba and Ollantaytambo, about five minutes by car from Urubamba town. Rooms, suites and villas are built in wood and stone to echo a rural Andean village, and they step up the hillside above gardens where alpacas graze on the lawns. It makes a quiet base between Cusco and Machu Picchu.

Choose by terrace and space. The Deluxe Terrace Rooms measure 42 m² and each has a private terrace over the river and valley. The Garden Junior Suites are 92 m², sleep up to three and add a terrace with valley views. Families and small groups can look at Villa Q'inti, a two-story villa with a riverfront wildflower garden, a fireplace and a terrace for sunsets.

Meals center on Muju, the hotel's Andean restaurant, with Muju Bar for cocktails built on botanicals and El Jardín for barbecues outdoors. The Mayu Willka spa sits by the river and lists a massage aimed at altitude adjustment, handy after a flight into Cusco. The heated outdoor pool, a campfire and hand-feeding the baby alpacas fill the hours between excursions.
