About Posada Amazonas

Posada Amazonas stands on 9,500 hectares of forest owned by the Ese Eja Native Community of Infierno, bordering Tambopata National Reserve. Rainforest Expeditions manages the lodge with the community, and it has operated since 1998. No road reaches it. After landing in Puerto Maldonado you drive for an hour, then continue upriver by boat for another hour, so plan on most of a day for arrival.

Rooms have open walls facing the forest, mosquito nets, ceiling fans, hammocks and private bathrooms with hot showers. There is no air conditioning. Comfort and Premium rooms measure 42.08 square meters, the Suite 52.12 and the Deluxe Suite 84.80, which has a private terrace and an outdoor tub. Meals are buffet style in the main dining room, and there is a bar and a massage center.

Excursions are part of the stay, chosen from daily options. You can sit in a blind at a macaw and parrot clay lick that only Posada guests use, take a boat out on Lake Tres Chimbadas to look for giant river otters, or climb the canopy tower. Children from age 3 have a playground and gentler outings, though several activities start early.
