About Belmond Las Casitas del Colca
Las Casitas sits on a private estate beside Yanque, in a valley that the Collagua and Cabana peoples inhabited long before the Inca. Guests sleep in individual casitas, not in a main building, and each one has a private terrace and a plunge pool. The Valley View casitas add a fireplace, stone floors and a beamed ceiling. With fewer than two dozen casitas, the grounds stay quiet.
Meals are served at Curiña, the lodge's only restaurant, where the kitchen cooks contemporary Peruvian dishes from seasonal local ingredients. Evenings can end at Puccq'io, the cocktail bar, and the team also sets up picnics and meals outdoors. Samay Spa has single and couples' treatment rooms, a steam room and an altitude massage, which uses aromatic oils and coca leaves to ease the effects of the thin air.
The Cruz del Condor viewpoint is a 45 minute drive away, and the hotel can arrange the ride for an added fee if you book ahead. On the estate you can follow hiking trails, ride horses or watch birds. Plan the journey in advance: the road from Arequipa takes about three hours with stops, and the hotel runs its transfers only during a morning window.
