About Casa Andina Select Arequipa Plaza
The hotel stands on the Plaza de Armas, Arequipa's main square, right beside the cathedral. A double row of arches along the front echoes the colonial buildings around the square. The 58 rooms are modern and light, with neutral colors and photographs of the city on the walls, and some have a private terrace. Santa Catalina Monastery is about a 7-minute walk away, and the Museo Santuarios Andinos about 3.
La Plaza Bar & Grill serves regional Arequipeño and international dishes, and its terrace overlooks the square and the cathedral's twin towers. Up on the fourth floor are a pool and a sun deck with loungers. The hotel also has a sauna, a spa that offers massages, and a gym. A small shop called Sama sells drinks, snacks and basic necessities, and a tour desk can help with city excursions.
Arequipa sits at about 2,335 m, roughly 1,000 m lower than Cusco or Puno, which makes the city a gentler first stop before higher ground. The road to the Colca Canyon climbs to about 4,000 m.
