About Colca Lodge Spa & Hot Springs
Colca Lodge stands on the bank of the Colca River at Fundo Puye, a short distance from the village of Yanque. It opened in 1995, well before the canyon became a popular trip, and grew in stages. The buildings use earth, stone and straw, with thatched roofs, and the gardens run out toward pre-Inca farming terraces. The altitude is 3,250 meters, so plan a slow first day.
The main draw is the set of four hot spring pools beside the river. The water is mineral-rich, lithium among the minerals, and the springs emerge as hot as 80ºC. The pools usually close for a few days in January or February, when the river rises. The spa adds a steam room, a thermal pool and a mud room, and its massage rooms look over the water.
Rooms run from standard doubles, triples and quadruples to adobe junior suites with terraces and sun loungers, a family suite for four, and a Panoramic Suite with its own hot spring jacuzzi. Floors are heated. The Owner's House has three rooms for six guests. Most meals happen on site, in two dining rooms and a bar, because Yanque has few restaurants.
