About JW Marriott El Convento Cusco

The building began as an Augustinian convent in the 16th century, and the hotel keeps its arched ceilings, stone walls and cloister courtyard. Digging during the restoration uncovered Killke remains, now shown in two exhibition halls, one of about 228 m2. At the entrance, a stone shield still carries the emblem of the convent's order. Behind the front desk hangs a sun disc 3.20 meters wide, built from over 76,500 Swarovski crystals to represent Inti, the Inca sun god.

Cusco sits at about 3,400 meters, so the oxygen enrichment fitted in every guest room matters if you arrive from sea level. Inca Wall rooms look onto old colonial walls. Family rooms have two double beds and face the cloister, and Terrace rooms add a small private terrace over the same cloister. The single Imperial Suite covers 90 m2, with a living room, a dining room and its own terrace facing the Inca ruins.

Qespi Restaurant serves Peruvian dishes beside a tall colonial wall, with a view of the patio, and Qespi Bar mixes cocktails with local herbs. The Health Club Spa offers treatments based on Andean healing traditions, plus a heated indoor pool, whirlpool, sauna and steam room for tired legs after a day of sightseeing. There is no airport shuttle or parking, so arrange a car with the hotel before you land.
