About Casa Morey

Casa Morey occupies a mansion built in 1913 by Luis F. Morey, one of the rubber barons who made Iquitos rich. It stands at Calle Loreto 200, on Plaza Ramón Castilla, facing the Itaya River. The hotel describes the building as a national monument. The AmazonEco team of Dr. Richard Bodmer and Tula Fang restored it, along with several steamboats from the same era.

The hotel has 14 rooms, each with a private sitting room, a bedroom and a bathroom. Furnishings follow the rubber boom style, and every room has air conditioning, a kitchenette, a minibar, a safe and cable TV. Room types run from singles to a family room with four beds. Many look onto the river, the waterfront promenade or the patio where the pool sits. Breakfast is included.

Guests can use the hotel library, free Starlink Wi-Fi and the pool. The building runs on solar energy and solar-heated water, and the same owners run two museums in town, one on Indigenous Amazonian cultures and one aboard a historic boat. The Casa de Fierro, the iron house of Iquitos, is 450 meters away.
