About Casa del Sol Machupicchu
Casa del Sol sits on Avenida Imperio de los Incas in Aguas Calientes, the base town for Machu Picchu, about five minutes on foot from the train station. The hotel faces the bus station for the citadel and stands beside the Urubamba River, so a citadel morning is simple: breakfast, then a few steps to the bus. Some rooms look over the river, and the Suite Sol Imperial adds a jacuzzi and a sitting area.
Eating and unwinding both happen under one roof. Manka is the restaurant, open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, with river-view windows and a menu led by Andean dishes with international touches. On the lower floor, the K'intu Spa has a hydrotherapy pool, a dry sauna, a steam room and a treatment room, with massages, facials and reflexology on offer. It is an easy way to ease tired legs after a day of walking the ruins.
Plan for a little noise: the train line runs very close to the building. The hotel will keep your bags if you are heading out on a hike, and it can arrange guided Machu Picchu visits. Check-in starts at 1:00 PM and check-out is at 11:00 AM, so most guests drop their bags first and head to town.
