About Aranwa Sacred Valley Hotel & Wellness
Aranwa Sacred Valley sits on the Vilcanota riverbank in Huayllabamba, on land that once belonged to a 17th-century hacienda. It has 115 rooms and suites in two styles: colonial rooms hung with Cusco School paintings, and modern rooms with a terrace or balcony. Lakes, gardens, a chapel, a small museum and an art gallery fill the grounds, so the property feels more like a village than a single building.
The UNNO Spa is the centerpiece. Its treatments draw on Andean healing traditions and native plants, and the spa includes hydrotherapy pools, a Vichy shower and an oxygen and aromatherapy room. Dining has centered on Pukawi, a gourmet restaurant built on Andean cooking, and Rikhuna, which serves lighter regional dishes. There is also the Kusi Pisco Bar and a sushi bar with Japanese and Peruvian dishes.
The hotel puts Cusco one and a half hours away by road and the Ollantaytambo train station forty minutes away, which suits the road to Machu Picchu. The valley floor lies lower than Cusco, so many travelers use a night here to adjust. Families have room to spread out: the three Lake Family Suites sleep up to six, and there are bikes, a cinema and a library.

Good to know
- The hotel is in Huayllabamba, about 7 km outside Urubamba town, so plan on a car or hotel transport for dinners out.
- The Ollantaytambo train station for Machu Picchu is about forty minutes away, according to the hotel.
- Rooms sit in low buildings and one writer found no elevator to upper-floor rooms, so ask for a ground-floor room if stairs are a concern.
