About Maniti Expeditions Eco-Lodge

Maniti Eco-Lodge sits on the banks of the Amazon River in Indiana, about 70 km downriver from Iquitos. The trip starts in the city with a transfer to the Nanay port, then a boat ride of roughly two hours, with a stop at Monkey Island, a rescue center where several monkey species roam free. The bungalows are built from regrown-forest materials, and each has its own bathroom.

Days are organized around local guides. The program covers piranha fishing, a night walk, a hike into primary rainforest and a search for pink river dolphins, with medicinal plants and giant trees explained along the trail. Meals are served at the lodge, and there is a swimming pool and a large hammock area. Stays run from two to seven days, and families can book a room for five.

This is a rustic stay, not a luxury one. The lodge has no air conditioning and limits electricity at night, with solar panels and a generator for recharging phones and cameras. Think of it as a simple, well-guided base for time outdoors, and pack for heat and humidity, and expect to spend most of the day outside.
